COME TO ABILENE AND
RIDE THE TRAIN

Excursion Trains
Ride the Flint Hills Express on track built by the Rock Island Railroad in 1886! Learn how railroads built Kansas as you ride in vintage passenger cars pulled by a steam or diesel locomotive.

Dinner Trains
Join us on the Smoky Valley Limited for delicious dinner service! We’ve revived the tradition of fine railroad dining with our dinner trains featuring good ol’ Kansas home cooking from area restaurants.

Special Events
Celebrate Abilene’s days as a town of the Wild West! Or join Charlie Brown and Snoopy to look for the Great Pumpkin at Halloween! Or make Christmas special on our Cowtown Santa Express!
LEARN MORE

School Trains
The Abilene & Smoky Valley is a living history museum, dedicated to teaching about the railroad’s impact in building Kansas and the U.S. We run special Meadowlark Flyer school charters where kids can learn while they ride our historic rails!

Donation Station
Our treasured steam locomotive, ATSF 3415, is due for her federally mandated 15-year overhaul. Help us fund this process and other capital improvements to continue sharing the history of Kansas railroading with the next generation.

Charter Trains
Create your own train! Charter a trip on the Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad for a unique way to celebrate weddings, corporate retreats, receptions, reunions, family gatherings, birthdays, or any occasion!
