2025 Mothers Day and GPT Smoky Valley Limited Dinner Train

Saturday, May 10
  6pm
$0 to $90
If you want to give Mom something unique this Mother’s Day weekend, Abilene’s Great Plains Theater and the A&SV’s Smoky Valley Limited dinner train have the answer: dinner and the theater! On Saturday, May 10, we’re teaming up to offer a great package that includes a 2:00 p.m. matinee performance of “Steel Magnolias” followed by a 6:00 p.m. two-hour train ride across the Smoky Hill River Valley that includes an elegant dinner in our classic 1947 Eveland Creek dining car. The dinner and theater package is $120 per person and can be purchased only through the Great Plains Theater site: https://www.greatplainstheater.com/steel-magnolias. But if you just want to just treat Mom to an elegant dinner on the rails, you may purchase your Smoky Valley Limited dinner train tickets at asvrr.org. Either way, the food will be great! Our caterer, Leann Urbanek of Broadway Station in Herington, is preparing your choice of salmon OR smothered chicken with a honey, mustard, bacon, and shredded cheese garnish. Your meal begins with a seven-layered salad and includes cheesy potatoes and green beans on the side. And for dessert? A piece of Broadway Station’s strawberry shortcake! Complimentary tean and water will accompany the meal. Our adventure on the rails begins at 6:00 p.m., departing from Abilene’s classic Rock Island Depot, with a stop at the Hoffman Mill and Country Store in Enterprise, Kansas! We hope to see you Mother’s Day weekend on the A&SV’s Smoky Valley Limited! NOTE: If you purchase dinner tickets without the theater performance, you will be assigned to the Chicago and Enterprise cars, as the Eveland Creek car has been reserved for Great Plains Theater patrons.
