The Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad and Abilene’s Great Plains Theater are offering the best Saturday date package in Kansas! Our date includes a great German meal on our Smoky Valley Limited dinner train and a great theater performance. On Saturday, May 31, catch matinee performance of “All Shook Up” at the Great Plains Theater at 2:00 p.m., followed by dinner on the Smoky Valley Limited dinner train in our classic Eveland Creek dining car at 6:00 p.m. The dinner and theater package is $120 per person, only available through the Great Plains Theater at: https://www.greatplainstheater.com/all-shook-up. But if you just want dinner, you can purchase your Smoky Valley Limited dinner tickets at asvrr.org. Either way, we feature Kansas’ best German food from Shatzi’s schnitzel Haus in Riley, Kansas. Chef Manfred is featuring your choice of schnitzel (breaded pork chop) or sauerbraten, with homemade spatzle (noodles), rotkraut (red cabbage), and for dessert, chocolate mousse made with a dash of Mozart (chocolate) liqueur. Iced tea and water accompany the meal. The train leaves our 1887 Rock Island Depot at 6:00 p.m. Enjoy a taste of Germany as the Abilene & Smoky Valley Limited glides through the river valley for a two-hour dining adventure on the rails of Kansas history! NOTE: If you purchase dinner tickets without the theater performance, you will be assigned to the Chicago and Enterprise cars, as the Eveland Creek car has been reserved for Great Plains Theater patrons.
