The Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad and Abilene’s Great Plains Theater are offering the best in weekend entertainment and fine dining! Saturday, July 19, catch matinee performance of “Tuck Everlasting” at the Great Plains Theater at 2:00 p.m., followed by dinner on the Smoky Valley Limited dinner train in our classic Eveland Creek dining car at 6:00 p.m. The dinner and theater package is $120 per person, only available by calling the Great Plains Theater 785-263-4574. But if just want dinner, you can purchase your Smoky Valley Limited dinner tickets at asvrr.org. Either way, passengers in all three vintage passenger coaches will enjoy the best of Kansas agriculture from Kites in Aggieville Manhattan. Your choice of pork loin or sliced roast beef, mashed potatoes with brown peppercorn gravy, a summer vegetable medley, and dinner rolls will be served. And top if off with a piece of strawberry shortcake. Coffee, tea, and water accompanies the meal, but for a little extra, have an ice cold beer or a glass of wine! Our two-hour rail adventure begins at 6:00 p.m., leaving from Abilene’s 1887 Rock Island Depot for a round trip through the river valley and a stop in Enterprise, Kansas, at the Hoffman Mill and Country Store. Join us for a great dinner on the Abilene and Smoky Valley, the Kansas Heritage Railroad! NOTE: If you purchase dinner tickets without the theater performance, you will be assigned to the Chicago and Enterprise cars, as the Eveland Creek car has been reserved for Great Plains Theater patrons.
