DINNER TRAIN: Happy Birthday, Mr. President!

DINNER TRAIN: Happy Birthday, Mr. President!
Saturday, October 11
  6pm
$101.42
While America always celebrates the legacy of U.S. Presidents in February, here in Abilene we celebrate our favorite son Dwight Eisenhower every October. And to observe Ike’s 135th birthday, we invite you to join us on the A&SV Smoky Valley Limited!  On Saturday, October 11, the Limited will make its run across the Smoky Hill River Valley, featuring Eisenhower impressionist Bill Nicks playing the role of the 34th President of the United States. And for dinner? Enjoy another Kansas legacy: a made-from-scratch fried chicken dinner from Abilene’s Brookville Hotel, featuring pan fried chicken, mashed potatoes with cream gravy, cream style corn, coleslaw, and homemade biscuits, topped off with the Brookville Hotel’s old fashioned homemade ice cream for dessert. Complimentary iced tea and water will be served, and for an extra charge, beer and wine is available. Our train begins at Abilene’s historic Rock Island Depot and features a round trip from Abilene to Enterprise, with a 30-minute layover at Enterprise’s Hoffman Grist Mill and Country Store. Come celebrate Ike’s birthday and enjoy Kansas’ best fried chicken on the Smoky Valley Limited!
Brookville Hotel at Abilene serves up family-style fried chicken dinners and is the perfect spot for everything from small family dinners to large group parties. We trace our roots all the way back to the 1870's, when the railroad spread its tracks out across the prairie to meet the expected rush of Longhorn cattle coming up from Texas along the Chisholm Trail.

What you'll find here is down home, traditional comfort food. Along with your chicken, order from a selection of excellent appetizers like Mashed Potatoes, Cream Corn, Biscuits, and a Sweet-Sour Cole Slaw that's a family Pennsylvania recipe. Our chicken recipes go back more than 100 years, and standing the test of time, they're sure to make your mouth water each time. We have a large dining room, but it doesn't stop there. Order take-out at Brookville Hotel or let us cater your next big event!
