It’s a star spangled Memorial Day weekend on the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad! Join us on Saturday, May 23, as our Smoky Valley Limited dinner train pays tribute to America’s greatest generation with an appearance by impersonator Bill Nicks of Kansas City, who’s the spittin’ image of America’s hero, General Dwight D. Eisenhower. Nicks will be on the train to honor our service men and women, past and present, with a bit of World War II nostalgia. And for dinner, Martinelli’s Little Italy of Salina, one of Kansas’ finest Italian restaurants, will serve beef ravioli and chicken marsala, with a chopped Italian salad, asparagus, and for dessert, molten Vesuvio chocolate cake. Coffee, tea, and water accompanies the meal, but for a little extra, enjoy popular soft drinks, an ice cold beer or a glass of wine! Our two-hour rail adventure begins at 6:00 p.m., leaving from Abilene’s 1887 Rock Island Depot for a round trip through the river valley and a stop in Enterprise, Kansas, at the Hoffman Mill and Country Store. Help us honor America’s service women on the Abilene and Smoky Valley, the Kansas Heritage Railroad.
