Oh, what a fine accent to the holidays! A great Saturday matinee at the Great Plains Theater followed by an elegant meal on the A&SV’s Smoky Valley Limited. Saturday, December 12, is the final performance of “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.” Our train leaves Abilene’s 1887 Rock Island Depot at 5:00 p.m. with an elegant meal of beef wellington, baked potato, mixed vegetables with a dinner salad and, in honor of the Great Plains Theater’s production of “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas,” Amanda will be serving a special green Grinch-like surprise dessert with your meal. Coffee, tea and water are complimentary, and soft drinks, wine and beer are available for purchase. We provide a two-hour journey across the Smoky Hill River Valley with a stop at the Hoffman Mill and General Store in Enterprise, Kansas. Please note: This is a special Great Plains Theater Saturday Matinee production, and theater patrons will be seated in the Eveland Creek car. Other holiday travelers will be seated in the Chicago and Enterprise coaches. The theater and dinner package must be purchased directly through the Great Plains Theater box office at 785-263-4574. If you purchase dinner tickets without the theater performance, those reservations can be made here online. Don’t miss our special finale to another great season at Great Plains on the Smoky Valley Limited on the Abilene and Smoky Valley, the Kansas Heritage Railroad
