It’s another Great Plains Theater Saturday Matinee weekend, where you can take in a professional theater production at the theater and have an elegant dinner on the Smoky Valley Limited dinner train. The GPT presents the children’s classic “Cinderella,” and Amanda’s Bakery and Bistro of Abilene presents a great meal on the train. Enjoy pork loin with herb cream sauce, mashed potatoes, and fresh corn, with a dinner salad and for dessert, Amanda’s is preparing “Cinderella Cakes,” a three tiered individual cake with chocolate crown mold. Coffee, tea and water are complimentary, and soda, beer or wine can be purchased with your meal. We’ve reserved our Eveland Creek car for theater goers, while our general dinner guests will dine in the Chicago and Enterprise cars. The GPT dinner and theater package is $110 per person, only available by calling the Great Plains Theater box office at 785-263-4574. Our train trip begins at 6:00 p.m. as we depart Abilene’s historic Rock Island Depot, for a two-hour journey across the Smoky Hill River Valley with a stop at the Hoffman Mill and General Store in Enterprise, Kansas.
