Labor Day weekend is summer’s last hurrah, the last chance to do one great family getaway before school and end of year activities dominate your social calendar. And in Abilene, Kansas, there’s MURDER in the Chicago car on the A&SV Smoky Valley Limited! Step aboard on Saturday, August 29, for an interactive murder mystery experience where our train’s Chicago car becomes part of the story. It’s “Bootlegger’s Paradise,” a prohibition era whodunit. This night, prohibition is in full swing, but the Chicago car is anything but dry. As the countryside speeds by, fortunes are brewing — and so is murder! All 56 passengers in the Chicago car will hear the facts, play the parts, and help our detectives Erin and John solve the case! Whether or not you’re in the Chicago car, all passengers will enjoy a great meal prepared by Amanda’s Bakery and Bistro, featuring a marinated chicken breast in herbed cream sauce, rice pilaf, and green beans, with a dinner salad and apple pie for dessert. Coffee, tea and water are complimentary, and soda, beer or wine can be purchased with your meal. Our train trip begins at 6:00 p.m. as we depart Abilene’s historic Rock Island Depot, for a two-hour journey across the Smoky Hill River Valley with a stop at the Hoffman Mill and General Store in Enterprise, Kansas. Reserve your tickets today, as our murder mystery is limited to 56 passengers in the Chicago car.
Have a great Labor Day weekend of fun on the Abilene and Smoky Valley, the Kansas Heritage Railroad.
