DINNER TRAIN: Spending D-Day with Ike

DINNER TRAIN: Spending D-Day with Ike
Saturday, June 07
  6pm
$0 to $100.85
As we approach the 81st anniversary of D-Day, the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad pays homage to Abilene’s favorite son, General Dwight Eisenhower. Join us on Saturday, June 7, on the Smoky Valley Limited as historical impressionist Bill Nicks of Kansas City portrays Ike on this special Memorial Day weekend train! You’ll hear the President’s D-Day speech as we dine on traditional Kansas summer weekend food! Chef Jeffrey Higgins of Abilene’s Brookville Hotel will be serving Brookville Hotel fried chicken, with real mashed potatoes and gravy, creamed corn, homemade biscuits, sweet and sour coleslaw, and the Brookville Hotel’s old fashioned homemade ice cream for dessert. Iced teas and water is complimentary with your meal, and for an extra charge, beer and wine is available. Enjoy this great meal as you dine in air conditioned comfort while riding through the Smoky Hill River Valley in our antique passenger coaches. Your two-hour dining adventure begins at 6:00 p.m. when our train leaves Abilene’s 1887 Rock Island Depot. It’s a night of re-enacted history on the Smoky Valley Limited! Reserve your seats today!
Brookville Hotel at Abilene serves up family-style fried chicken dinners and is the perfect spot for everything from small family dinners to large group parties. We trace our roots all the way back to the 1870's, when the railroad spread its tracks out across the prairie to meet the expected rush of Longhorn cattle coming up from Texas along the Chisholm Trail.

What you'll find here is down home, traditional comfort food. Along with your chicken, order from a selection of excellent appetizers like Mashed Potatoes, Cream Corn, Biscuits, and a Sweet-Sour Cole Slaw that's a family Pennsylvania recipe. Our chicken recipes go back more than 100 years, and standing the test of time, they're sure to make your mouth water each time. We have a large dining room, but it doesn't stop there. Order take-out at Brookville Hotel or let us cater your next big event!
