DINNER TRAIN: Memorial Day 2025 USO Show

Kites of Manhattan

Saturday, May 24
  6pm
$0 to $120
It’s a USO Show! Make this Memorial Day weekend special on the A&SV Smoky Valley Limited as we celebrate the sounds of the war years with a USO show presented by Kansas’ own Transit Players of Lawrence. Our three vintage passenger coaches will be decked in red, white, and blue as we celebrate Memorial Day with the sounds of a World War II era music and variety show. And to celebrate the arrival of summer cookout season, Kites of Aggieville Manhattan proudly presents the best of Kansas barbeque, featuring a barbeque plate of beef brisket, smoked sausage, and pork, with baked beans, coleslaw, and honey cornbread. Coffee, tea, and water accompanies the meal, but for a little extra, have an ice cold beer or a glass of wine! Our two-hour rail adventure begins at 6:00 p.m., leaving from Abilene’s 1887 Rock Island Depot for a round trip through the river valley and a stop in Enterprise, Kansas, at the Hoffman Mill and Country Store. It’s a great way to kick off Summer 2025 on the Abilene and Smoky Valley, the Kansas Heritage Railroad!
Named after legendary Kansas State athlete, Keith “Kite” Thomas, we’re keeping his tradition alive as Manhattan’s most legendary establishment. For alumni, this means revisiting old college glory days, while for new students, this means living them out now.

Whether you're just visiting, coming back as an alumni, or coming in as a current student, you should always "Meet Your Friends at Kites!"
