Discover an adventure in Kansas history, as you ride on the Abilene and Smoky Valley Railroad’s Flint Hills Express! Trains leave from Abilene’s 1887 Rock Island Depot, taking you on a two hour rail adventure through the Smoky Hill River Valley as we relate stories of how the railroads built Kansas and our booming agriculture industry. Our train takes you to Enterprise, Kansas, where you can tour the Hoffman Mill and shop in the Country Store, featuring home ground flour, cornmeal, and other mill products. Ride in one of our three vintage passenger coaches: a 1947 Canadian National, a 1946 Chicago and North Western pullman, or a 1902 Missouri-Kansas-Texas wooden car. In the spring and summer, you can ride on the open air Missouri Pacific covered gondola car. And for a little extra, you can purchase tickets to ride in our vintage diesel engines or our Union Pacific caboose! Ride the rails of Kansas history on the Abilene and Smoky Valley, the Kansas Heritage Railroad!
