Annual Meeting

This year’s keynote speaker will be Allen Harper, the CEO of American Heritage Railways (AHR) of Durango, Colorado. Harper has an extensive background in tourist railroad and hospitality businesses and has built AHR into the leading heritage railroad organization. His company owns the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in Durango and the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad in Bryson City, North Carolina, and a variety of other properties across the United States.  Most recently, AHR acquired the Branson Scenic Railway in Branson, Missouri. The company also owns Rail Events, Incorporated, a licensing firm for special events, such as the ever-popular Polar Express.

Heritage Rail Management, A subsidiary of AHR, has been consulting with the A&SV for the past three years as they have navigated a successful “rebirth” as a Kansas regional attraction.

The meeting is open to the public. The meal is included for all current Association members and active railroad volunteers. Those who are not association members need only pay $30 for the cost of the meal.  Memberships will also be available for purchase at the door.

A short business meeting will be held where members will include an update on the A&SV’s busy season and goals for the coming year as well as electing two board members to serve four-year terms on the organization’s board of directors. Only association members will have voting privileges.
